Truth. Goodness. Beauty.

The Trivium

Developing habits of heart, mind, and body including a life-long love of learning, along with mastery of subjects and the lost tools of learning

  • Grammar

    Grades TK-6th (Approx. ages 4-11)

The Grammar School program intentionally builds a strong foundation that cultivates wonder and awe for the order of God and his creation, and delight in the True, Good, and Beautiful. The knowledge learned in the Grammar School provides the fundamentals necessary to think critically, reason clearly, and argue persuasively in the Logic stage.

  • Logic

    Grades 7-9 (Approx. 12-14)

When children become naturally argumentative, the Logic stage teaches students to engage in debate and discussions thoughtfully and charitably. Students interact through Socratic dialogue and are trained in informal and formal Logic. Logical training and reasoning spans all disciplines and is cultivated in tandem with humility, love, and virtue.

  • Rhetoric

    Grades 10-12 (Approx. ages 15-18)

In grades 9-12, classical Rhetoric is emphasized as the fundamental skill of speaking and writing well. It is taught, practiced, and refined throughout every subject and class. Building on the foundation of grammar and logical reasoning, rhetoric is the skill of finding the best available means of persuasion in order to lead others into what is true, good, and beautiful.

  • Pursuit of Truth, Goodness, Beauty

At Eden Classical Academy, teachers guide students in the pursuit of Truth, Goodness, and Beauty, as we behold Christ’s person, His work, and become more like Him. Alongside parents, we seek to raise up a generation of young people who embody a genuine life-long love of learning, love Jesus Christ with all their hearts, minds, and strength, and boldly proclaim the gospel with eloquent words, honorable actions, humility and grace.

  • Schole & Liturgies

Scholé (pronounced skoh-LAY), which means “restful learning.” It connotes contemplation, reflection, conversation, and leisure; it also serves as the root word for our English term school. At Eden, restful learning requires exiting the rushed, often aimless and endless busyness to purposefully attune our hearts to value that which is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent and praiseworthy (Phil 4:8-9).

  • Contemplation & Conversation

Do we make time in our lives for deeper conversations? … for contemplation and reflection? … for learning to take root more deeply? We tend to think leisure means idleness or a break and vacation from work. We do well to consider intentional, directional, deep contemplation of the world surrounding us and of the God who created it all.

  • Community & Celebrations

God designed us to be in relationship with one other. Indeed, God’s Wordabounds with exhortations about how we must be involved with other people, commanding us, for example, not only to love one another, but to “Honor one another above yourselves…” (Rom 12:10), to “Live in harmony with one another…” (Rom 12:16), to “Be devoted to one another in brotherly love…” (Rom 12:10), “And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works…” (Hebrews 10:24). Healthy community is the outcome of sustained effort toward God-honoring relationships and the commitment to love our neighbor above ourselves.
